Still Great
Seeing Isaiah Rashad is like encountering a deity in the flesh. His music has been intertwined with my life since I was just 8 years old, making it challenging to maintain objectivity. Let's start with the positives: His masterful band flawlessly executes both Beatles and solo Isaiah tunes, while Isaiah performs them with infectious enthusiasm. His bass and piano skills are impeccable, and the songs, undoubtedly, rank among the finest ever crafted. Even the lesser tracks boast captivating melodies. His acoustic performance was particularly stellar, showcasing "You Won't See Me" and "Love Me Do", a song he hadn't played in years. On the downside: Isaiah's voice wasn't at its peak early in the evening, though he managed to improve as the show progressed. The concert's momentum was frequently interrupted at the outset, especially during the lackluster "Temporary Secretary" and sentimental "My Valentine", which dampened the atmosphere. Additionally, Isaiah tends to recycle the same routines and anecdotes verbatim from his previous tours. He may be a bit of a show-off, but he's a likable one. All in all, a 2 hour 40 minute performance by a 74-year-old man is quite impressive.
